It's spicy and has a very good flavor. The only drawback or negative comment I can make is that there is an overabundance of dishes that are fried or covered in a cheese sauce. Share another experience before houes go. Thank Gotillyoudrop Nearby Hotels See all 7 nearby hotels.

My husband and myself ate here last Saturday evening. We were so looking forward to it after all the excellent reviews. We were encouraged when we had to wait in line outside the restaurant at opening time. Thinking this must be a find. Then we ate Everything ordered was cool in temperature.

The seafood chowder would have been good if hot. The potato was cold. My coconut shrimp was good. However, that was it. The bar was lacking in selection. We will not return. Due to the lack of decent restaurants at Caesar's average buffet, over-priced steak house, Cleo's Deli - a definite "don't bother" and the very lousy selection at Belterra, we try to find local restaurants.

The Key West Shrimp House was a rare find indeed. Ok, so the Ohio River ain't the Gulf of Mexico - but the food is what you come for. My husband had the fisherman's platter and couldn't decide what he liked best. He's a big french fry eater - but the seafood made him forget about the fries!!! The chowder rates up there with some of the best he's had. I had the boiled shrimp in a net. Neat idea. The shrimp are good sized and you get about 18 of them!!!

I couldn't eat them all. The onion boullion is not what you'd expect. It's spicy and has a very good flavor.

The hush puppies are like none we've ever tasted. They were sweet - I asked about the recipe, but the waitress didn't know. The only drawback or negative comment I can make is that there is an overabundance of dishes that are fried or covered in a cheese sauce.

This may well become a permanent stop on our travels through Indiana. I have eaten at "The Shrimphouse" my entire life. It's one of those places where they know you and still love you. They are famous for shrimp obviously and fix them coconut style, boiled in a net, in red sauce called Panama style, and of course fried.

They have other seafood like fish, scallops and frog legs. They also have a great steak my father-in-law doesn't like seafood, but he loves their steak. The salad bar is unique with some things that are specific to the area like pea salad and these huge pickle chunks. Each meal is served with this onion bouillon and toast that is so good. They have a full bar and they make my father-in-law's favorite drink, Brandy Alexander, with real ice cream.

They are sinfully delicious, like a milk shake with a kick. Our family has celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, and other exciting events at the Shrimphouse for years and years. The food is very good if not great. The service is wonderful. We spent a long time talking to the waitress we worried that we were taking up too much of her time.

Don't worry, she laughed--They are used to me here! She told us all kinds of in information about Madison. We had a wonderful time and will certainly go back. It looks a bit shabby from the outside but is well loved and homey on the inside. You will like it--go. To give you an idea of the type of place it is, the owner doesn't write your name down or how many in your party Even if there are twenty groups waiting in the downstairs family area complete with board games, he personally comes to get you when your table's ready.

It's a family business and it shows! The neat thing about Key West is it's lack of updating. Normally that would be a turnoff, but it suits the place and we get such a warm feel from dining there. Sort of an old ship theme inside. The service is always excellent and we enjoy the food too. Our favorite thing there is the seafood chowder. We've yet to find a better chowder and believe me, we have tried!

The owner's wife personally makes the key lime pie and it is very good too. My husband and I often share the captain's plate which includes wine, salad bar, and several courses of seafood, steamed, fried, etc.

Don't remember for sure if dessert is included. It's a great deal for those who like variety. Service is good and prices are reasonable. It's not right downtown but just on a side street Make the effort and you won't be sorry.
